Helping Good Kids Get Back On Track
Turnabout/Stillwater Academy enrolls boys and girls 12-17 years of age from all regions of the United States and Canada.
Students come into the program dealing with a wide variety of issues that may be manifested in any of the following ways:
- Defiance
- Verbal abuse towards parents
- Loss of interest in positive activities
- Isolation from family
- Blaming others for problems
- Sneaking out/running away
- Poor choice of peers
- Lying and manipulating
- Stealing
- Substance abuse
- School truancy and failure
- Internet abuse
- Pornography
- Sexually acting out
- Depression
- Suicidal thoughts and gestures
- Eating disorders
- Compulsive behaviors
Feelings behind these behaviors are often complex and may be driven by any or all of the following:
- ADHD/ADD/ODD
- Low self-esteem
- Abuse
- Adoption (Including Reactive Attachment Disorder)
- Depression
- Learning Disabilities
- Neglect
- Divorce
- Genetic mental health issues
- Loss
- Real or perceived rejection
- Conflict in the home
While we strive to be able to help all teens, we cannot accept teenagers who:
- Have a history of violent behavior
- Are pregnant
- Have Low IQ (below 80)
- Do not speak English
- Have severe autism
